design@large, a design blog from Italy, edited by Laura Traldi, journalist at D la Repubblica
design@large offers a critical perspective on design, featuring long reads and opinions on smart projects, people and ideas. Many of the articles have previously appeared on D la Repubblica, the weekly magazine of Italian daily newspaper la Repubblica
design@large is online since 2011 (previously on designlarge-d.blogautore.repubblica.it) and since January 2018 is also available in English.
DID WE NEED THIS? No. But design@large was born from my desire to talk about design for what it is: the ability to develop intelligent objects, ideas, solutions and visions for a better world (hence, far more than just furniture). It’s a blog of long reads, to be experienced as a moment of peace in the hectiness of everyday life.
WHY design@large? In English it conjures up images of freedom. In Italian, though, it sounds a bit like “design and more”: and that’s why this blog is about design at 360 degress, in all areas and sectors, in stories packed up as Analysis, Projects, Opinions or Interviews.
AND THE @? It’s just to remind us that we are on the square of the 21st century where everyone is allowed to talk (hopefully, after engaging the brain).
